Brought to you by the team behind the iconic Leicester Comedy Festival — one of the UK’s longest-running and most-loved celebrations of comedy — this event promises to pack a whole day with belly laughs, brilliant performers, and a buzzing atmosphere.

For over 30 years, Leicester Comedy Festival has championed the best in British comedy, proudly supporting new voices while celebrating seasoned pros. It’s an open-access event, which means anyone with the passion (and the punchlines) can take part — making it a breeding ground for raw talent, fresh ideas, and unexpected moments of magic.

Now, that festival spirit is hitting the road and heading to GlastonBlaby! Join us for a vibrant day of comedy, community, and cracking entertainment as we showcase performers from across the spectrum — from exciting up-and-comers to comedy circuit favourites.

Daniel Nicholas

Exciting and interactive comedian Daniel Nicholas, mixes audience participation with characters and jokes to create an unforgettable experience His ‘talent for engaging with the audience is unparalleled’ (Stage Side Reviews). He has been nominated and won various awards, including Best improv Show at Leicester Comedy Festival, and being shortlisted for the BBC Comedy Award. He has appeared regularly at the Edinburgh Fringe and gigs across the country.

James Dowdeswell

James headlines comedy clubs around the UK and is also highly sought after as an MC. His comedy is erudite, off the cuff and clean. He has worked all over the world from Shanghai to Slovakia, Malta to Melbourne. He turned professional after winning the Jongleurs New Act Of The Year Award in 2000.
Dowdeswell has appeared on numerous TV shows including Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC) and Extras (BBC) where he played the Count in the David Bowie episode. He also presented World Cup Round Up for Sky Sports.

Kev Mud

Kev Mud made a blistering start to his stand up career by either winning or getting to the finals of most national competitions in his first few years. From being booked on the main comrdy stage at Glastonbury, to being the subject of full page articles in the national press.

 

Kev is “one to watch” (Chortle) and “one of the best new acts in the last 20 years” (Spiky Mike, Funhouse Comedy). He brings his experiences as a homeless ex-addict to a performance that has been described as “honest, charming and humorous” (British Comedy Guide), by delivering his stories and cleverly written pieces “with charm and wit” (Chortle).

Kev has shared the stage with the likes of Frankie Boyle, Sara Pascoe, Russell Howard, Ed Gamble, Kiri Pritchard McClean, Al Murray and Shaparak Khorsandi, as well as appearing on TV alongside Mark Steel, Paul Foot, Josh Pugh and Ian Stone.

Rachel Baker

Rachel Baker lives in Birmingham but really she lives to laugh. Her cheeky delivery and hilarious physicality make her a unique and joyous presence on the circuit. Among her accolades are Funny Women Finalist, Sketch Off Finalist and Birmingham Breaking Talent Nominee.

Kwame Asante

Kwame uses his undeniable charisma and on stage presence to play against audience’s expectations, which makes his comedy fresh, intelligent and most importantly funny.

Kwame’s material touches on a wide variety of topics, drawing humour from his life as a British African, a Husband, a Father and an A&E doctor in the NHS, as well as current affairs, with witty and clever observations.

Kwame started gigging in 2010 and won the Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year award in 2012. His debut solo hour show ‘Open Arms’ went on to be nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2017 Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Kwame has performed all over the UK comedy circuit and has even ventured internationally, with shows in Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany and Australia. He has made a number of TV and radio appearances, including recording his own BBC Radio 4 pilot in September 2019.

Kwame has also provided tour support for household names, such as Jason Manford, Michael Che and Eshaan Akbar.
